Contract payment issue

I rencently started a contract with an IT company in Sandyford, but after 2 weeks I was offered another contract with alot more money and took that.

I spoke to the manager in the first contract and she agreed it would be ok for me to leave without any notice and I did.

The problem is now that they are not returning my calls or have made no attempt to pay me.

I originally got the position through an agency and I received a contract but did not get around to returning it signed.

The agency do not seem at all interested at this stage , is there anything I can do to recover the €600 odd that they owe me ?

A word from the wise - The IT industry in this country is smaller than you think. Bumping a client for a better contract elsewhere will very easily come back & bite you on the ar$e. IT managers move around & tend to have long memories.

Who are "they"? The client or the agency? Chances are that your contract is with the agency & not directly with their client. Therefore, you need to chase the agency for payment.

Ask to speak with the managing director (or someone in the agency who can authorise payment) & plead your case. I'm assuming here that you at least got a timesheet signed by the client. If so, you can use this to show that you worked X number of chargeable hours.

I wouldn't go in with all guns blazing as he's probably quite p!ssed off that you've potentially damaged his relationship with his client.
