Bus Éireann's policy dealing with contractors

It is Bus Éireann policy to only deal with contractors compliant with all aspects of employment legislation requirements – both in respect of their directly employed staff and any staff subcontracted by them.

To ensure this, Bus Éireann requires all its contractors to sign a Declaration stipulating that that all statutory requirements in terms of pay and conditions for employees will be fully followed. The requirement is also stipulated in legal contracts with contractors.

Bus Éireann has at all times followed the correct and proper procurement procedures and has also instructed its main contractors to follow those same correct procurement procedures with its subcontractors.

Bus Éireann is currently examining and reviewing matters in relation to the company contracted to fit seatbelts on the school bus fleet, and the firm subcontracted by that company.

Should it emerge that there has been a breach of contract in respect of any of these issues, Bus Éireann will immediately instigate a process to rescind the contract.

    Issued by:
Media and Public Relations, Bus Éireann
