Current Status of Project An initial feasibility study was carried out by Parsons Brinckerhoff in 2003, which examined possible alignments, interface with the national rail network and preliminary cost estimates. More detailed analysis will need to be carried out by Iarnród Éireann before specific proposals in relation to alignment, timescale and cost can be presented to the Department of Transport. Approval has been granted for design development for the Interconnector alignment and its proposed stations locations and layouts. This is expected to be completed in mid 2007.
