Dave Fanning Show & Lost

    Did anyone listen to segment this evening on Lost on The Dave Fanning Show, a terrible presenter. Not only did they have Dave Fanning but for a change Ruth Scott was bearable talking about something.

    If nayone missed it you can stream it from The Dave Fanning Show Page on 2FM.

    A couple of things that did strike me though was Dave Fannings ignorance o na couple of topics which is nothinh new and Ruth Scott announcing to people Lost is going to last for nine seasons... The laso played the audio of the US trailer which was very cool

    But overall it was an okay promotional piece...

    Yeah I heard a bit of it at work. Wasn't that bad in some parts, some girl rang in and actually sounded like she knew something e.g. calling the monster a "security system".

    First thing I've realised about the guy is that (despite being a DJ/movie reviewer for a youth oriented radio station) he doesn't seem to have any genuine affection for anything (music/films) post about 1975. Second is he seems to think it makes him really cool and funny to then blatantly display his ignorance and disdain of pop culture as tho he's somehow above it all. Ironic considering the stuff he liked in his youth (Dylan/Traffic/Floyd) he was as much of a sucker for mainstream as the next guy.

    Basically you can't take a word of what he says seriously. He's a fake. His on-air persona is that of a disaffected 15 year old boy trapped in the body of a jaded 50 year old man. He's a complete tool imho. I don't know why anyone still listens to him.

    You have got it completely right. He has absoulutely no interest in talking about anything he isn;t an expert on. He admited that he has seen all of season one and six episodes of season he could have just shown some interest. Yet he has seen all of Deperate housewive which he proclaims he would be happy to never see again.

    He simply isn't in tune with anything in pop culture. He is in a time warp. He really doesn't know what he is talking about most of the time and that is just lain insulting to people who have an interest in a movie, TV show etc.

    Ruth Scott was quite informative and had actual personality during the segment.

    Has anyone caught upwith it on the 2FM website. it is aboy a half an hour nto it.
