Mobile phone ringtone adverts in magazines

Hi just wondering if anyone else has a problem with the adverts for the ringtones and screensavers on magazines. Even on the back of magazines like tv now and other family mags are pictures of almost pornographic images of women.

I'm so conscious of my five year old seeing them - he picked up Shoot football magazine and there looking up at him were semi naked women wearing football club g-strings.

    Can these adverts be reported?

Lodge a complaint to the Advertising Standards Authority - if the publication is UK based they will pass on the complaint to the UK equivalent.

    goto http://www.asai.ie/
    read the advertising codes
if you think the ad breaches the code of advertising standards,
then use the "How to make a Complaint" form on the start page.

You'll get a written reply acknowledging your complaint,
they will follow up by letting you know in advance if your objection was upheld and givre you opportunity to add your comments to the judgement.

p.s. read the complaints bulletins to see other complaints and what was upheld and not (and why).

    good luck.

It seems that these types of images cannot be avoided these days. They seem to be everywhere. I have no issues with them but then again I dont have a 5 yr old.

great i think i'll get on to that. I'm only 25 and wouldn't be prudish in general about stuff like that but i do find these images inappropriate placed on some magazines.

If you feel that strongly about it don't buy them.

Thats partly what I would have said, but also isn't shoot targeted at an older audience??

Take it up with the ASAI and see what they say.
