For a Network Engineer in a city outside Dublin (don't want to be specific). with no formal qualifications but 4+ years in I.T., doing MCSE at present (paid for by a company)
They get the 5 weeks off to do the course and 2 study days?
    35K/year.

Should this person when finished MCSE then get a pay rise of 5K? or 14 days study leave?

are there better paying jobs with better treatment out there?

    please post your views.

    Thanks in advance

well, we have no idea what sort of work you will be doing. a title means nothing, and doesnt indicate the level of work, or the level of knowledge or reponsibility needed.

but i have to say that 35k doesnt soind that bad to me, and to have the study thrown in as well seems good.

just be careful, the grass is very rarely greener on any other side.

Thanks for the replys. I was begining to think I was out of whack with the pay scale and that we wern't up with the current Training for staff.

Job spec is nothing too demanding - keeping Clients/Servers up and running, no overtime 9-5/5 days a week and good conditions (i.e. Coffee breaks, all good equipment, Relaxed holiday views)

TBH I actually thought that it was pretty good having 6 weeks of training in one year and not many companies would do that.

Good to hear i'm stil on track.

35k is good considering no formal qualifications too.

Formal qualifications mean nothing. Experience is where it counts. Having the MCSE only proves you can study.
35k is good for a desktop engy but in the low levels for a server OS engy.
