I am going to get a media player in the next few weeks. My first thought was to get an iPod, but there are probably better players out there. A friend of mine has an Archos Gmini, it is a good one, plays movies, music, stores pics, and a few other accessories. Also the Archos is a lot cheaper then an ipod.

what players do you have and would you recomend them?

I have an iPod, it has given me a bit of trouble, it was replaced and the new one was grand (although i thought it was messed up again, turned out that it was my error with the ports) Id recommend it anyway

To be honest the media/music players aren't much use for anything except very short bouts of viewing, if you must watch a movie or even an episode of Buffy you would be much better off buying a decated movie player with a proper 16 : 9 aspect, wide screen like the Archos or even the PSP and getting a zen micro for mp3!

I've had a video ipod and it drove me mad trying to keep that tiny screen still for long enough to watch a programme without it making me feel annoyed and nauseous.:(

I disagree. I frequently watch video on the bus with my Zen Vision:m. I can also connect it to the TV and watch DivX's fullscreen.

If you want a dedicated PMP then get an Archos or maybe a Cowan A2, if you want a hybrid then the Zen Vision:m is the clear winner.
