was working all weekend, so on friday morning i shut down my pc and thought nothing of it! so this morning i turned it on....nothing..the hdds spun up for a split second and then nothing....so i figured the psu to be gone, so i changed that one out with a spare on in an old pc, the fans spin up, the drives are going and the cd drive opens and closes....

But, nothing happens!!!i thought maybe i had fried the gfx, but i stuck in an old pci one i had and nothing the monitor still shows black!!!

    have i fried the board??

Remove the gpu. Should get beeps indicating that there's no gpu inserted. No beeps.....board fried.

OT: I made an offer on adverts for your gpu cooler

Might be the mobo alright. Any beeping when you turn it on?

Do you hear any beeps (the different sequence of beeps means different things). Also do you have an LCD screen on your mother board that gives out error numbers (consult your manual for the meaning of these codes).

The only think you actually need to get a computer to function is a CPU, memory and motherboard. Disconnect everything like mouse keyboard, harddrives, CD rom drives and PCI cards. If you know what you are doing, take out the CPU and put it back again. Take out any RAM you have and put back in only one of the RAM slots (if you have multiple ones).

Turn on and see if you get an error beep or error number on your motherboard. If you do it means you have a problem with either you RAM or CPU. Most likely it is the RAM. If you have another RAM swap them around and see if it works fine. If it does you know it is a fault RAM stick.

If it isn't your CPU or RAM start connecting devices until you run into trouble.

I just downloaded your manual. The clear CMOS jumper is located below the battery. You should see 2 tiny pins. You will have to short these with a jumper cap. If you have no spare jumper caps you could take one from the cdrom orHD drive and put it back when your finished.

    Hope this helps

    Good luck

    :(

Its not looking good tbh, did you try reseating the CPU?

I'd try what tba suggested in re-seating the CPU and see what happens.

Your HD's should be fine by the looks of it though the motherboard sounds like it's toast.

Tbh, sounds like a case short. I would strip build outside the case. My old pc did this because the screws were not tight and the wc+vibrations made the motherbaord move.

interesting, so if it is this, the mobo is out the window?, what about the case will that be reusable? the cpu and the cards, will they also be ok?? at the min imjust so paranoid about my hdds! i have nearly 500gb of music and video that ide really prefer not to loose!

Also im really confused on how this happened when the pc was off!!

Well your HD's will be fine so the best thing to do is take them out of the computer and put them in a safe place for the time being not including the drive with Windows on it of course.

Take apart the machine and basically re-connect all the parts outside the case on a table and see if it powers up, if you get lucky and it was a short then power off plug your HD's back in to verify the yare still working. Then put everything back together in the PC case and see how it goes.

If it's not a short could be the mobo is dead but all the perhiperials like GFX, RAM etc should be fine.

You could try purchasing the same motherboard again so you would avoid having to re-install Windows. But maybe a clean install of Windows with a different motherboard would be a good thing given the problems you mentioned having.

yeah the mobo was a pos tbh but all i could afford at the time......ok will get cracking on that....is it ok just to have the mobo on the table?? should i put something underneath it??
