Stealing stationary...

I'm just curious to see, how many people out there have actually taken alot of stationery from there office?.

I'm not talking about taking a pen or a marker, Im talking about people who have acutally over time taken nearly a whole box of pens, or a few bottles of Tipex. Some people have been sacked from there job for taking so much, anyone here have any confessions to how much they took from the stock room?

Personally, Ive only ever taken a few pens and markers, nothing big.

It is stationery, not stationary (meaning not moving), and we have all taken some.

I'm terrible for taking blank CDs, paper, label paper especially, spare network cables, pens and - oh yeah - their broadband access!!!

    Meh................ It doesn't bother me!

Wasn't it Ween who did the song "Take Stuff From Work"?

Was downsized from my last job. I took my stapler with me when I left. It was a solid metal Stanley Bostitch stapler. Not one of those cheap ass plastic crappy ones that all companies seem to be purchasing these days that don't staple worth a darn. I gave them seven years of my life. I earned it!:p

Hmmmm.......I think my biggest lift included two boxes of pens, a six-pack of highlighters (hi-liters?), a refill pad, a multipack of post-its, 3 envelopes, a little plastic thing that you slip a piece of paper into with your name/humourous anecdote and pop on your desk, and a folder. That was a good day. :)

    Anybody got any extra staples?????????????:p

I never feel bad taking from work. The way I see it, if I broke a pen they wouldb't expect me to pay for it, or i'm allowed free coffee in the morning, or I can use a plastic fork for free with my lunch. So if i'm allowed to take for free, then that means the item IS free. I've taken home some of the filter coffee packets, filter papers, plastic cups, post its, pens, staplers (offices do get the best ones, I think the one I got is called "The Rhino"), plastic utensils, paper plates. The thing is I will never steal anything which i'm not already allowed to use or take for free, and no one ever actually says how much of this stuff is too much, they just assume moderation. Plus, no one has ever missed it, there has never been an inquiry or even a mention. Its just assumed supplies get used up so more is ordered. Plus a packet of post its at home will last me 2 months, whereas in work it would be gone in a day, the same with pens and everything else.

Of course, Lust4Life did not mention that the corporation that let her go was on the brink of bankruptcy, and that one stapler she took as a retirement benefit, pushed them over the edge and thousands of people lost their jobs? Oh, did you see the soup lines in the mid-West? After the one stapler was discovered missing, King George II declared a state of national emergency, the National Guard was mobilized (forcing many to be withdrawn from the Iraq war), and have now been ordered to search for that one stapler. The Department of Homeland Security is now coordinating all the various agencies (who have been spending most of their time infighting), to discover the identity of Lust4Life so that the one stapler can be returned and the corporation once again made solvent. Rumour has it that her avatar dwells someplace north of a place called Chicken-and-a-Cow-won't-Go?

I liberated some laptop cd and floppy drives and some bits of networking kit recently which then found their way onto ebay. Although if i'd not done that then we would have had to pay someone else to throw them in the skip for us so I did them a favour really. ;)

    I don't think it matters...

My current job and the one previous I can gaurentee that nobody was stealing anything, yet the stationery all evaporated anyway. Seriously, trying to find a pen in this office is a disaster. Perhaps we're just careless with them because a wee box of pens arrives every month.

I do waste thousands of elastic bands however... and now I feel guilty because I admitted it.

It just so happens that today in work (i'm in my notice period) i'm nicking a large padded enveloper to send my contract to the new company.. a touch of irony.

Usually yes, i'll have anything not bolted to the wall or barcoded for the asset register.

Does sending personal mail through the franking machine count?

Everything I don't like is either woke or fascist - possibly both - pick one.

My flat mate used to work for PTSB and hated it. He used to steal the huge bags of elastic bands and he made a giant elastic band ball. In the end it was biggger than a basket ball and weighed a ton.
