Microsoft have announced that they are making a PMP to challenge the Ipod.

There are a couple of different code names doing the rounds but Zune seems to be the overall heading in which several other services are based within.

Your link doesn't work. This one does though.

Think I'll stick to my iPod thanks, that thing just looks wrong and wtf is a "Zune" anyway ? Doesn't exactly make me jump up to pay attention. Still I suppose the Apple haters will welcome it.

Opps! Its fixed now. I was wondering what the perception would be if Microsoft released a player. Would the original 'bad guy' of the Computing world suddenly become the good guy just because its taking on the IPod.

I kind of like it though...

I heard it's gonna be their own proprietary file format and their online music store is only gonna support that file format, which means the MTP protocol that they have been marketing and encouraging other digital audio player manufacturers to use, has just gone out the window.....

Others have tried this scenario in the past and failed miserably - I wonder if Microsoft will be able to swing it??

    WMA?

Well I would be slightly (but not completely) surprised if their online store only do WMA. MP3 has such massive and unwavering popularity that it would be mad not to offer it as an option.

    Nothing wrong with WMA though.

    Apart from DRM perhaps...
