Back On The Game

I've started playing live again after taking a break for a month but where has all the Omaha gone?

Went into the Fitz at 9pm and left at midnight when NO ONE had added their name to mine to play omaha! Three hours on a Saturday night! There were 3 full tables full of young fellas who don't realise that omaha is a game of percentages just like hold'em.

Does the SE have an omaha game going?

oh well. might try to get that 25 euro mixed game going again but as I said to Ecksor it's probably more trouble than its worth.

the other games are just as easy as holdem I promise you!

there was a seat in the 100 omaha game but a pal of mine lost 400 when he was called by a guy (no names!) who had one out to hit a straight flush and of course hit it. And that was one of the smaller clashes of this weekend at that table. (and I know u want fish like that at the table - but in the 100 game!?)

so remember the golden rule: play within your limits! it's not whether you're good enough that matters, it's whether your bankroll can survive the variance!

teach your schoolpals to play omaha people - I have bills to pay! :D

Fitz on Friday night had lots of Omaha, holdem and round of each going on. Looks like it was just bad timing for you Doc.

It's been several months since I was playing cash games in the Fitz, but there was 1 or 2 round-of-each games going, as well as the usual 4+ hold'em only games. The omaha games are way tougher these days, you get bad players playing, but the terrible gamblers aren't there any more.
It used to be that there would be maybe 3 players who knew what they were doing, and 3 total fish. More like 5 and 1 now.

Hold'em games are where it's at these days.

I was in the Fitz on Friday night and the Omaha table was in full swing. The first pot i seen had 11k in it. The chip leader at the table had over 40k in front of him and the majority of the table had 10k or more so if thats where you wanna be, then get down there next Friday!

Surely if he had 1 out for a straight flush, he also presumed he had 8 other outs for a flush and 3 outs for a straight which he thought were good??? Obviously he couldnt see the house on the table, but as u said, they're the sort of players you want at the table

lol, no, he saw the full house! i don't play the 100 game coz u need a couple of grand to bother sitting down. everytime i sit down with a couple of hundred i see about 2 hands! i'm happy with making a few quid a week, i'm not interested in taking on tony c from cork and the others!
    not yet anyway....

as i said in my first post and in the words of Inspector Callaghan of the San Francisco police department: A man's gotta know his limitations.

    swell.

Well, I wasn't around the last time you suggested a mixed game, but with a bit of notice and spare funds permitting I'd like to support another go at it.

I was talking to Paddy Hicks tonight and although he's not a cash game player he is interested in my idea of a 25 max half pot limit horse game. Of course if someone else wants to organise something thats fine with me. I just want to have some fun.

If it begins and any know it all kid on this forum stops making it fun then I'll stop playing it.

But i think it could be fun, with no one really able to win or lose more than fifty. I think Saturdays from 5pm until late would be the right time.

I'll talk to Luke during the week. But please remember that poker is supposed to be enjoyable first and a money making venture second. Otherwise it's a wasted life.

Turns out Paddy Hicks is a whizz at lowball too! lol

Ianmc I might need to borrow my old copy of supersystem!
Ecksor I'll let u know how I get on.
Everyone's more than welcome btw. even gingers and students. well, maybe not students.

I'm currently killing a PLO table and have a 2 to 1 chip lead in a stud MTT so I feel confident :P

I've played a bit of lowball and razz and like them. I had a chat with Paddy Hicks one night about playing stud and he had some spot-on advice on it. I'd say he'd be a great man to have in a game like that.

My main aim is to learn these games as well as enjoy them.
    well, maybe not students.

    Oi!

If this is going on next Saturday at 5 then Des I will be interested in playing although I have never played razz, and have only played bits and pieces of stud and hi/lo. Can I be the 'kid' who stops making this fun? Please????? I don't really look like a young goat, but I can try.

Also, any chance of making this a 'ORSE' game instead? :)

I should get a 'ban holdem cashgames' campaign going in the Fitz.

sounds great Dom, sign me up!

    ok then.

6pm, in case there's a few playing in the tourney. 'Orse it is! We'll start it at 25 max buyin half pot limit for the first two hours anyway. I'll start another thread in the events section about it. We'll just keep it a friendly. I'll get a sheet done up with a few pointers about each game. We can even throw in a few others if we feel like it.

congrats on your win the other night Dom, always nice to feel like you're back on the 'orse!

I was just joking about the ORSE bit. I'd imagine it'll be more than headsup if we have a H too. At least 4 handed.

    ok ntl,
I've started a new thread in the events section so the mods can lock this one if they like.

everyone is undoubtedly pulling out supersystem again, and learning all those funny games. I'm, gonna try my darnedest to get to this.
Although i'm sure i'll be a student (technically true would you believe!) who stops making it fun!
