Animal crossing... don't know what I'm doing wrong but I just can't seem to be able to catch a fish...any tips please?

Also, anyone know how to plant oranges to get trees?

Any other tips in general to make the experience more enjoyable? seems a littel slow for my liking in general...just going around collecting oranges & shells & selling them & talking to the people around...oh ye & trying to fish!!!

Can't travel as yet as don't have a wireless router only an access point & it doesn't seem to work with the DS Lite, but will be getting one soon!

First, walk around the river and the sea until you see a fish shadow. Don't run or you'll scare the fish away. You've to cast your line so the float lands close to and in front of the fish, where it can see it. Then the fish will start "sniffing around" the float and at some stage there will be a "plunk" noise and a little splash. When you hear this you've to be quite quick and tap the screen. The "plunk" noise is the same as the sound when your float first hits the water when you cast.

You need a shovel to plant oranges.

There're lots of fun things to do in Animal Crossing. Half the fun is finding things out for yourself. But here are a few things: designing clothes in the Able Sisters, bug catching (& collecting in the museum), fish catching and collecting, gardening (both flowers and trees), excavating (requires a shovel).
Be sure to visit Nook's everyday as often things you can buy there unlock a lot of extra stuff to do around town.

I don't really understand the differenciation you're making between an access point and a wireless router. Does your "access point" connect to your phoneline for your broadband? Can other devices connect to it wirelessly? What make is it?

I tend to use the stylus for casting, then I mash the A button when a fish gets a hold of the thingy. Works for me anyway - I got a fish worth 10 grand and a red snapper (3 grand), so I could finally pay off my tupping mortgage!

Wow I didn't realise the fish were worth so much...I'll be out there with my fishing-rod more so! Beats collecting oranges & shells anyway!!!

    Thanks for the tips guys!

The bigger fish are worth more, but I find them harder to catch. There's different types of fish in different places e.g. the sea, river and ponds. Red Snappers tend to be in the sea IIRC - I usually see a good few.

Duplicate fossils are worth a good bit too, but check with friends if they need them too if you're online.
