Speedlite and manual camera settings

    Just a quick question about a canon speedlite.
    I've been using my camera (350D) in manual mode with a speedlite I got last week and I'm a little stuck with it at the moment.
    When I want to take a shot at 1.4 with the flash it won't let me because the shutter speed won't go any faster than 200. It makes no difference if I turn the flash around or if I change the ISO speed.
    I also tried setting the flash to manual ,but still no joy.

    Anything I can do ??

    That's Canon's fastest shutter speed with a flash afaik, I think Nikon are 1/400?

    Is there any way of getting the flash to work ,at 1.4 ????

    (EDIT) Sorry Fajitas ,I found out what the problem was ,High speed sync flash ,lets me manually adjust the shutter speed to allow for the flash light :) ,Phew.
