Civ4 problem

Hey all, I bought Civ4 yesterdya and was just going through the tutorial but I've got a problem with my worker unit. I moved it into an area beside a new village, and now I can't do anything with it. During my turn, the unit comes up as needing orders, but none of the icons below can be selected. I can't move it using the mouse or the keyboard, and yet it pops up each time. I didn't fortify it or put it to sleep. It's annoying me now. Is this a bug or something dumb I've done?

Have u patched to 1.61

The only patch I could find that would work was 1.52.

The fact that v1.61 doesn't work is worrying!

Is this the first/only time a unit has become stuck? do the other units move ok?

Are there any other problems?

www.civfanatics.com forums are the best source of info for civ tech problems i find. www.apolyton.com is good as well.

Areyou totally new to the game? I take it you have researched technologies such as agriculture and the like. Until you have you wont be able to select anything to build.

Man, i got CIV4 a few weeks ago. It is my first game of this type so it has taken me a while to get up to speed. Im finally beginning to come to terms with the finer aspects of the game now but i still havent managed to win a game yet (playing warlord level)!!!!!!!! I keep coming back for more though

i've had no probs and been playing lots and lots and lots, i think bananna man might have the problem solved

Thats probably it. Your workers will show up as not being able to do anything without the basic technologies researched.
