As you're buying a new motherboard you might aswell get something based on the i965 or i975x and give yourself the option to upgrade to a Core2Duo(Conroe) CPU at a later stage.
    The rest seems fine...

Oh i see, i did not know that the chip i had now was capable of being used with the newer type of mobo's.

Right then just had a quick look there on komplett and see these two boards
    http://www.komplett.ie/k/ki.asp?sku=320231 (ABIT AW8D)
    http://www.komplett.ie/k/ki.asp?sku=317061 (MSI)

would either of these be fine, and which one do you think is better....

    thanks again ;)

Just be warned that its only the latest revisions of the i975x mobo's that are compatible with conroe.

All i965 should be compatible though.

Unfortuantely neither of those Abit & MSI boards are the updated 975 version required for Core 2 support. Komplett has only one 965 board listed though I imagine more will be come available eventually.

Currently one of the places that has stock of 965 motherboards and updated 975 boards is OcUK see some of these Gigabyte boards.

Note that 965 mobo's do not support Sli or XFire so no chance of adding another gpu. 975 do support XFire (no sli yet). OCUK has a few, Asus, DFI, Gigabyte & Intel boards. You'll find there will be a few more in a months time.

So ya reckon that i should wait the month then and get it then?

    waiting to build.

But until these issues sort themselves
    1) Conroe supply issues vs. AMD price cuts
    2) Motherboard issues.
    3) gFx compatibility issues

    I'm gonna hold on.
