    Argh

Unfortunately it happened to me today after 2 years running without much hitches. I have a Pentium 4 3.2Ghz Prescott running on Antec SmartPower 350W and I just realised it went off few hours ago. I guess it is a PSU problem, as I can't switch on the computer at all. I tried another power cable and it didn't work, instead it kicked the main fuse box in the house. So is it really a PSU problem? I do really hope it won't cook the other parts! Just bought another Gig mem few weeks ago!

Am not sure really what to do now except getting a new PSU. Can anyone point me out what needs to be done before I replace the PSU? If it is a new PSU that I must get, I am thinking of Seasonic S12 or one of Antec TrueBlue. Nothing really fancy that I need as long as it is decently quiet, realiable and cost around 60 - 100 euros. Any ideas?

I think its a fairly safe bet to say the PSU is well finished. :)
Its simple enough to replace it though.

Unplug everything thats using the PSU, unscrew 4 or 5 screws that attaches it to the chassis and just pop in your new one and attach the cables again. Whatever new one you get make sure it has enough SATA power cables (if you use them or may do so in the future) or similar to your old one. You should be able to get a decent one for 60-100 euros. Maybe someone else can recommend you one as I'm not up to speed with that yet, best of luck with it.

    cheers Ruu

I am now looking for a new PSU... I think Peats on Parnell St has the OCZ Modstream 450 for a similar price like on Komplett... But again Komplett and Microaid hv some good selection of other PSU brands like Antec.. The only thing that holding me up in making decision is the non-modular and rails thingy... Wat is that and how would that make any difference to my Socket 478 mobo?...

The modular part of you question refers to the cables inside the computer. On most PSU's the cables that connect to your main components like hard drive, dvd rom etc are part of the psu. But on a modular PSU you simply add more cables in when you need them it just leads to a more cable free case as you only use the cables you need.

I recently bought a nice PSU from overclockers.co.uk

I bought the first one its nice and quiet. Only problem with overclockers is they wanted proof that it was my credit card so i have to send them proof of address!

You should report it to Antec.
