    Has anybody come across this spyware/virus

    Norton tells me I have it but not how to get rid of it

    restart in safe mode.
    search for the file.
    delete and empty.
    restart.

    should probably do the trick.

    No joy

    it's not that harmful but have to constantly click a Norton box with it, sometimes 6 or seven times in a few seconds

    Does anybody have any info. on it

    protector.exe is a process belonging to the Spytech Software, SpyAnywhere remote administration tool. This process allows other users to control your PC via a local network or the Internet. If used malicously this process can also permit users to access your PC, from remote locations, stealing passwords, Internet banking and personal data. If unaccounted for, this process should be removed immediately.

    Spybot or Ad-Aware should get rid of it.
