Waterproof?

I was just wondering. I am going away on a surfing holiday in a weeks and I was looking for happy snapper for when I'm in the water with my mates. Well I was just wondering does anyone know if these cameras are any good? Also are there other options from different manufacturers? Also what type of quality of picture can I expect from these cameras?

Is that just waterproof as in wont be damaged by splashes

or actually water resistant [works underwater]

Thats waterproof as in works underwater not water resistant (wont be damaged by splashes). However it only has a class 8 rating meaning it is only sustainable for 30 mins of underwater activity. Anyone have any insight ?

Hey I've got the Pentax Optio WP, and I think its great fully waterproof. If your going on a surfing holiday then it'd be ideal.
I've used it snorkling and it works perfectly - and the photos arn't bad either. It also takes video with sound which is pretty good underwater as well.
