In future, paste a screenshot of the query or something.

That seems to be in order, except for the 1800hrs train. Hmmm.

    ed:
    Moran
noun: a person of sub-moronic* intelligence; one so moronic** as not to know the proper spelling of the word "moron"

There is an 18:00 Connolly Longford (arr Longford 19:39) Mon-Fri

It must have been a late addition. Sorry for discommoding you by adding an extra service :)

    Interesting.

I'm not doubting you (in fact you're probably right), but the information I have to hand suggests it runs.

Mneh. I once spent 2-3 hours in Limerick Jct. over a similar thing.
    According to the website:
"Validity: Runs every Monday to Friday from 2 May until 8 December; except 5 June; 7 August; 30 October."
Maybe it does run, it's just that they don't know/use printed timetables which may not include it as the timetable covers a longer period. *shrug* I find the printed timetable to be less reliable.

The 1800 was added in the week after the timetable was published, since Longford commuters wanted intercity journey times on what was is a commuter line, put it this way Longford gets a way higher service level than other locations with higher peak demand, its politics not passenger focused fair allocation of resources, if it had been withdrawn there would have been grief and we certainly would have been told

Irish Rail have a serious problem in terms of timetables since they all have errors they had to reissue the Kildare line one 3 times this year as a result, the concept of a proof read fails to register

If the website says it runs it most likely does

After some investigation I can confirm that the 18:00 Connolly Longford does operate and that surprisingly the website is correct.

Railcar 29x26 operated it this evening departing from platform 4 in Connolly

This must be the express train that goes through Drumcondra a minute before the local train.

Longford rail users got taken care of because the station for a town its size produces a phenomenal number of rail passengers compared to rest of the Sligo line.

Outside commuter services, Mullingar loadings are very so-so, same for Sligo itself. I am always impressed with the numbers of passengers getting on and off trains at Longford station regardless of the time of day.

From my own casual observation there seems to have been a major collaspe in passengers on the Sligo line since the 2900s came on stream with the exception of Longford - the trains were as popular as ever. It's almost like a cultural thing in Longford the way people use the train so much.

I think it's fair that the timetable reflects user loyalty.

as someone who knows about the backends of websites theirs looks like a serious mess, although not quite as bad as dublin buses.

IE's best computer system is their now ~15 year old ticket issuing machines, which don't seem ot break down at all.

Its noooo Ghost. Runs Monday to Friday as per correct website information. This train was introduced shortly after the introduction of the timetable following polictical pressure by TD's in the mid-west over the lost of the 1815 express.

They got expresses at 1700 and 1900, but that point seemed to be overlooked by the said TD's!

Found out over the weekend that Longford, "is looked after" because of a relocation programme by IE to plant drivers up there and end the Taxi fiasco. Drivers got "comfort" money to move, on top of the profits they made from the sale of their houses in Dublin. This is fact and not some hyperbole. I heard the conversations and it actually made me feel ill. The boasting and bragging between "staff" was unreal. These particular people don't talk to me because of my association with P11.(another story) But Hey, you end up in the same back garden, at the same party and you listen. The relocated ones used to live in Kildare, now live in Longford. The jealous ones still live in Kildare, but strive to find ways to milk it anyway.

I accept that not all of them nationwide will be the same, but its sickening all the same, especially when you listen to passenger issues and know that much of the solution lies with making certain staff richer through an outdated union practise.
