I've just finished watching season 4 it was cool
when Air Force One was shot down. The season is really a long chain of events a far cry from the previous series in which they were focused on getting the virus, nuclear bomb etc.

It wasn't a very good plot towards the end
but the nuclear plant and Air Force One being shot down was good too.

I would say its sort of a mixed reaction from me.

Can't wait for the DVD of Season 5 in October, gonna be deadly.

    yes

Season 5 is imo Season 4 multiplied by 20

I have no doubt that it will, I had a look at some episodes on TV, couldn't resist it.:)

There's absolutely no point watching a series like 24 on TV.You'll either lose your place or be too busy to watch it at that time.

What did people think let down Season 4?

Crappy dead ends and CGI. :)

Generally you have to look beyond CGI and anyway 24's were reasonably good for a TV budget and 24 has some of the best production values on TV

Ah yeah I agree, but you have to say the scene
where Habib Marwan falls off the level of the car park was a bit of crappy CGI, it was short of a little ploom of smoke at the end. :D

Season 4 is my least favourite,I thought it was fairly bad to be honest. Good thing season 5 was 100 times better.

I thought Season 4 was an in between season, if you look at the characters still alive at the end of Season 5 compared to those at the start at Season 4 very different ... don't worry won't tell you who.:D :D

Also i thought Marwan was the worst bad guy in all the seasons. No depth. Crazy escapes. No reason why he was always one step ahead. Compare to Ira Gaines, Drazens, Salazars and in season 5
    Henderson

Season 5 is not without its flaws mind, but still better than S4

I didn't enjoy s4 and the fact they needed to replace alot of the new characters with old returning characters proved how poor it was.

Currently watching (catching up) with Day 4 on DVD.

It is trying too hard to imitate the first 3 seasons, and when if fails it tries to pick up the pieces by letting someone be killed or letting them leave the show.

Many of the characters have been gone for most of the day only to reappear to help Jack or to take over from Tony.

Newer characters have much to be desired. The president is a caricature of Bush (well after all Palmer was a caricature of Clinton).

The new head of CTU (Erin Driscoll) has problems at home and brings those problems to work by placing her daughter in the CTU surgery. I assume this was for dramatic effect. Only this story had little drama and disrupted the real storylines. And poor Edgar with this poor old dieing mother, who then takes her own life because of a nuclear reactor meltdown.

Each episode ends, and another plot is uncovered. Unlike the original series and following days where you where wait to find out what happens next, this season doesn't provide that exciting end to an episode.

And of course the big question in this season is how many people can be killed in a bad day for Jack Bauer? 10? 100? 1000? There weren't as many casualties in the original series.

It shows the very pro-American stance of the FOX network and the 24 hour news channels are now mainly set to FOX NEWS unlike the first three seasons which used made up news channels. The orginal 3 series wheren't bogged down by this approach. IMO.

I am following Day 5 on RTÉ and am looking forward to finding out why Pres Logan has issues about Jack, I assume I will find out later on in Day 4.

I find Day 5 better mainly down to the acting and storylines, everything ties together nicely will little need to bring in issues surrounding the character’s lives outside of CTU, which have little relevance on one of the longest days of their lives. I like the first lady in Day 5.

I heard Day 5 will be available in November.

Also was Mandy shot by Jack in Day 4? I think it was the same girl, she was having an affair with the Stealt Plane Pilot, and was then looking for the hard drive in an appartment with Jack. Please tell me it was another girl so that Mandy has a chance to return to Day 5.

Okay so finished Day 4. Wasn't that bad after all. But I stick by my last post

And Mandy returned and will be back hopefully. :)

Pres Logan works very well and is prob the best addition to this show.

well, just watched season 4 over the last week and I thought it was very good, overall just a great storyline I thought, surprised by comments that it was received as a relatively poor season of 24, hate to say it but S.4 was Chloes season.........have season 5 sitting there to be watched but will give myself a break and watch over Xmas so I can look forward to S.6 in HD on Sky, this will be the first season I'll have seen on TV so I'll have to recondition from my 3+ episodes a night I've enjoyed this last year

    Good points,
some great angles and a lot going on, Chloe has some brilliant lines - Jack, if you ever need someone to talk to - along with Edgar also, the Chinese embassy events, the VP versus Palmer scenes, some great new characters introduced backed up with some great acting

    Bad points,
too many "girlie" scenes like mam dying, daughter dying, husband dying, people falling in and out of love, CGI in last episode, very predictable - even more that usual I mean - when Jack and AN Other go out in the field together that AN Others life expectancy is zero, Arwans getaways

    Damn you. :)

When your used to watching 3-4+ episodes in one go, 1 episode feels like 10 minutes and it's the suspense of waiting to see what happens next is what makes it so good.

    What was purpose of this?

AFAIK 24 is sponsored by nissan in the states and on sky one AFAIK.

Hence the 20min part of the box set.

Walked past James Frain (Paul Raines) on Baggot Street today. He was wandering around with a bicycle looking a little bit lost.

You could have given him directions. Asked for an autograph let him know you recognises him as one of the people killed off in a season of 24!
