Long stay at Dub airport for 26 days €221.

So I thought that I'd check out other options. Based in Kilkenny.
Train - forget it! Times/days don't suit and not that cheap either.
Bus/coach - forget it! Much like the trains.
Car rental. Now this looked good on the websites I was checking. One way from Kilkenny - Dub airport €66 and return Dub airport - Kilkenny €96. Saving nearly €60. (Yeah ok I'm tight.)
Website said to book the one ways I need to drop into the local office, which just happens to be round the corner.
Prices were confimed, but then I was told that Dublin Airport are now charging an extra €100 for a rental cars that are dropped off there!!!!!
    What a fupping cheek!!
    So total cost €262.

Looks like it'll be the car then!!

    (Rant over)

Eh... getting to the airport from Kilkenny isn't that expensive. You can get the JJ Kavanagh bus from Paulstown for about €15 return. You can get a taxi or a lift or whatever from Kilkenny to Paulstown. (about 15km at a guess).

Unless you're flying out at 5 am or something, it should get you there in plenty of time. Earliest bus leaves Paulstown at 6.20 am, getting you to the airport for 9.30am. Last bus leaves the airport at 8pm.

I've used this bus a few times to get to the airport, and have never been late.
It does take a while though, but it beats the crap out of paying €8/day for parking in Dublin.

Ah. Going isn't too much a problem, need to be at Dub airport about 20:00 on a friday.
Coming back is the problem. Arrive Dub airport 22:10 Sunday. Will have the family in tow, 2 boys 4 & 2 so won't want to much hanging around etc.
Those were the only flights we could get.
Tried JJs and can't get any results for Dub airport - Kilkenny. strange.

You could try parking in QuickPark. It would cost €156 for 26 days.

Sounds interesting. Never heard of quickpark. Do they have a website?

You used to be able to book on-line but the system has been suspended. They are almost permanently full but if you arrive between 11pm and 5am approx you should be OK. €6 per day :)

That looks like an excellent option. Assuming they have space when we get there at about 20:00. A saving of €65. And they have a shuttle service to the terminal.
I checked out the travel lodge near the airport which did a family room for €79, but then the taxi from the airport on top of bus charges didn't make it much cheaper.

Thanks for pointing out the quickpark, will remember that in future.

    Cheers.

You should be able to get a space at 8pm as sufficient passengers would have returned during the evening.

Take junction 4 (Ballymun) off the M50. First exit (left) at top of slip road. Right at the next lights. Right again (after about 1 mile) at next lights and Quickpark is several hundred metres ahead on right.

(PS - When you exit the M50 do not get confused with the signs for DAA Long term Blue which is in this area.)

Regarding Bewleys Dublin airport, I believe that if you stay with them the night before your departure then you can park your car there for €7 per day.

Just another thought kleefar - be prepared for a flat battery after 26 days. Jumpstart is free of charge in Quickpark.

(It's €40 with DAA via AA unless you are an AA member).

Thanks for pointing that out, nice to know. Fingers crossed, should be ok.

    (And hopefully get a space.)
