    Can anyone recommend a retailer?

At the moment I'm considering aria.co.uk. I know some people will tell me to build myself, but I've had trouble in the past so I'm just going for peace of mind.

Either of those options are good, once you have the money :)

Alienware would probably be too expensive. Didn't consider dell though. Aren't they notoriously difficult to upgrade?

I'll be spending around 1700. I'm looking to get an AM2 system, although Dell would have first dibs on the new Conroes.

Dells aren't great for upgrading, but if you're willing to do some upgrading.. why not build the pc yourself?

You'd get more for your 1700

Keep an eye on the Dell outlet and you might get a bargain, although they won't have any dualcore, so it depends on how much you want to spend. Currently they have the following for €770 inc VAT, PC only.
    Dimension 5150 Pentium 4 HT 3.40GHz
    Memory: 1024MB DDR2 533 [2*512]
Hard Disk Drive: 250GB 7200rpm SATA Hard Drive
Video: 256MB nVidia GeForce 7300LE TurboCache graphics card
Modem: V.92 Modem Data/Fax/Voice PCI UK
    DVD Drive: 16X IDE DVD ROM + 16 X DVD +/- RW

Thanks for those links. As I said, I'm not looking to build myself.

Pls dont go down the Dell road. They cannot be upgraded & have very poor airflow. They use cheaper components and have a psu that cannot be upgraded. I know its the easy option but you'll end up buying a full new pc in 2 yrs.
Have all the parts here for my conroe rig for UK£1150. I have the gfx card but i bought a soundcard which you could do without at the start. Just waitin on conroe before i build. Build yourself is my advise. E1500 would build you a serious rig which would have good specs and would be fully upgradable. Your own build would also look cooler than a boring Dell buy.

I'll go the other way and recommend them as I got a great deal. Don't rule anything out until you see what they have to offer.

That's a great system for that price. Unfortunately I've been burned before building myself, and it ended up being a costly venture altogether. For this amount of money I will buy pre-built. I see Dell haven't changed their ways so I will avoid them. Won't be buying immediately anyway as I'm waiting to see if these AMD price cuts will come about.

I'm sure lots of people would offer to build it for ya for a fee. I would just 2 keep me occupied, its my hobby.

Holy crap! They seem amazing value.

Have you ordered off them souper? Can't see what delivery to Ireland is - I presume they do.

As said above, you could try Komplett and OverClockers.co.uk, they both do pre-built systems..
