Glitch Question

Wondering what peoples opinion is of infantry being able to get up on the roof looking down over the hotel in Karky? (not the flat one dummy). Its too easy for a resupply to hold Hotel from there by himself.....

Is it a glitch ? or is it allowed? I always referred to it as the magic roof................ also, it is possible to get up without a supply crate so I've been told!

I think it should not be allowed.

It's a glitch, not allowed and I *think* it's been fixed with 1.4

i tell ya what... if i saw one mofo doing that on the A.S.C.I.I BF2 server he'd be banned for life and his PID put up here for the other Irish admins...

If you can't play the game they way it was meant to be played then **** right off!

getting into the hotel building itself is the gitch. you could always get up on the roof to the right of the hotel as you look out onto the street. just needed to sprint along railing on the building beside it and jump at the right time but having a supply crate in the right place is easier as you are less likely to fall down trying to get up there.

its been there from the when bf2 came out, i've used it to defend the hotel noone ever complained not like the other team can't get up there or drop art on me to kill me. its just like the low roof on the other side of the road left of the hotel. its not a glitch look at the link plenty of others spots on all the maps like it. its just use of terrain to attack enemy, if you can shoot them they can shoot you

Yeah, i got inside the hotel itself to check it out, but didnt shoot anyone. I went in after a squad went in there after my whole tema were getting killed by a squad who had taken it over. I have no idea how people get on top of the hotel itself.

Its a handy place to defend the flag ,but a crap thing when attacking.
Id be up there only i die to much making that jump :mad:

Well according to that link on how to do it it says ya need a low ping so that rules out people with high pings doing it so it sounds like a glitch to me.

You need a low ping, as its a split-second jump. People with a high ping will lag, and not make it. Even those with a good ping won't always make it:o but I see it as a "hard to get to place", rather than a glitch. Some league's forbid it, but most servers allow it. TBH, if I'm playing support, I sometimes go up there, so that I can supply people, and shoot at jeeps goin by.

I dont see it as a need to have a good ping.I just see it as a need to have a good finger or thumb (cant leave out the thumb people) co-ordination on the jump button ......hence thats why i was ****e at Chucky Egg
tbh theres no differance than a sniper sitting on top of a roof with the top of the ladder claymored.as he will get kills on top of there,but theres always ways on which you can kill him.

Its definitely NOT a glitch and it SHOULD be allowed. Why is it any different than jumping to any other building??

Also if you get up there you don't have that big of an advantage over anyone, you can be shot just as easily, unlike say inside the hotel, now that's a blatant glitch.

Hhmm I dont see it as a glitch..you can get up there by jumping..nothing dodgy about that. What about getting up onto a roof by using a vodnik?? Is that not considered a glitch because its not a "high" rooftp??

Well a roof with a Ladder you can expect to see some one up there a roof with out ya cant. In an infantry league ya dont really expect to have to be looking into the sky a lot.

definately NOT a glitch/hack or unfair way to play. there are 3 roofs that you can get on on karkand, none of them easy, but if you spend a little time practising you can get it. you are not using any outside game mechanics or other advantage other than timing & knowing when to jump.

Its also possible to get on some of these roofs by getting on top of vehicles, which is not a glitch either. One more point, i've seen this used in leagues and cups, so from a competition pov its perfectaly legal.

anyone can do this, i suggest you go and try..... other maps have some nice roof tops also, mashtuur springs to mind by jumping off the big roof behind road construction and landing on the point of the roof directly above the flag.
