    1/2 NL on Party

Villain is very aggressive, will bet 1/2-3/4 pot on every street every hand. however he has laid down hands to a reraise.
    Stack = $350

Hero, stack $190. i have been playing a solid tight game, havent shown down a hand yet.

I pick up [8,8] on the button

villain raises to $6 (his standard raise for at least 50% of hands)
    hero calls

    Flop ($15) 8s 5d 2c

    villain bets $9
    hero calls

    Turn ($33) 7c

    villain bets $20

    Action??

Is it best to raise here or smooth call again & let him hang himself on the river. he really could have anything from AK to A8 to 1010/99 or a lower set

i decided just to call, with the intention of reraising his anticipated river bet

    River ($73) 6d

    villain bets $35
Hero calls (didnt fancy the reraise with 4 cards to a str8 on board)

villain shows 44 for the low end straight & wins $140

You have top set, so you want to win a big pot. If you wait for the river before you start raising him then it'll be difficult to get Villain all-in unless he has a big hand too.
Definitely raise the turn, I'd probably raise the flop a large % of the time too.

    weak

raise the turn and take the pot..you had to see straight draw and flush draw so why did you not raise?
