Do you know any family or friends that would give you a job?

If not, try a few pubs and restaurants, i got my first job in one.

I know it may sound a bit harsh, but what you have to do is send out as many CV's as possible, instead of listing any jobs you have had, emphasis any clubs you are in and what you have contributed to team, if you are a team player there you should be a team player in work.

When you drop a CV in somewhere, don't just hand it in ask for the manager and chat to them about any jobs they may have, then follow up and call them back a few days later.

Even though it's only a summer job, it pays to look well when you are looking for a job, dress neat, (not necessaly a shirt and tie) but look respectable, shave (if you are a guy), wash.

    Where have you tried?
local shops, pubs, restuarants, factories, offices.

Why not cut your loses for the summer (it's pretty late to get a job at this stage) and help out in a summer camp, this way you'll have something on a CV for next time. Once you have the first job, it's easier to get another one.

Also why you hand in you notice tell them that you would be interested in coming back next summer or xmas, then call them late October early November.

At the end of the day there are lots of people looking for work, anything you can do that gives you an advantage do it.

Try people you know, as Alter-ego said relations, neighbours, ask a mate who has a job already if their company is hiring.

I'd previously worked in a builder's supply centre and I got taken on in 5 minutes by a fashion store.
