    Folks,

Following on from my previous thread on ALDI, I got word that I got an another interview, this time with Bank of Ireland for their Graduate programme. Anybody else out there goin for the same programme (business banking). Or has anybody been there and came out the other side with a job? What is the interview like? What sort of stuff do they ask? How are you finding it? Is it tough?

    Stories and experiences needed

    Tks

    Stephen

P.s Sorry for all the questions :D

the word on the street is the boi graduate programme canditates start on 28,000 it decent enough but all the top commerce student form u.c.d and u.cc will be aplying ! hope u got a good degree grade , and good at aptitude tests. Cause there meant to be real tough, only the cream of the crop get in, p.s i reckon if u got over 450 pintws in L.c u'll beok.

Not with BOI, cause my friend is on the BOI grad scheme and he had an average LC like me, in fact I got more than him. I agree they will work you hard and yes competition is tough but hopefully ill be well prepared.

    Thanks:)

Any particular reason why you ask?

Well, it was stated above that they only accept "cream of the crop". If they are only accepting 1.1's then there is no point in me applying:(

I have a Masters in Strategic Management and a Degree in IT. They accept 2.2's and upwards. They use this to screen out the thicks, aptitude testing is also part of the process. So bang in your CV anyhow, what have you to lose?

How is the money as you progress? 28K is very good for grad, does it continue like this? Thanks.

Well i'm sure it will progress with time. However let that be the last thing that enters your head, do a good job and you will be rewarded.

Yeah I get what your saying. But it is a pretty important thing tbh(for me anyway:p ) 28k seems very nice starting off but how would it compare to other similiar jobs(like in a big four firm) after a few years(10 years or so).

One more thing stepbar. Any idea what the aplicant to place ratio is on the programme? Is it very selective? Congrats by the way.

I have my aptitude test tomorrow afternoon. Not too worried about it though, am generally pretty good at those kinda things.

Wouldnt know and (Not being smart) I could care less about the big four because there are biased towards good results in the Leaving (like that matters when you have a good high 2.1  ) and the UCD, Trinity, UCC, UCG folk. Testament to that was when my friend was applying to KPMG. He "happened" to drop his app form in the trinity careers office whilst we sent it in the normal way. He got called, we didnt. Say what you like but its pure bolox.

Certainly the group grad programme is tough. 8 out of circa 2000 applicants got the job. 20 went the the interview. About the same for my programme.
    Congrats by the way.
    Thanks ;)
