I tried this on my laptop and now on my ASUS PUNDIt-r system , i know i read somewhere about the nearest broadcast comes from belfast "difis flats " or holyhead ???..maybe im wrong anyhow i feel a bit of a fool now ...So is there anyway of get these things up and running in dublin ???

Freeview using an ariel does not exist in this country yet as far as i know.

As Saruman said there are no DVB-T broadcasters in Ireland with the exception of the North and supposedly you need to be near the border in order to pick up the signal, Dublin is simply too far.

A pilot program that includes Dublin is apparently in the works and will be operational this August according to DVB.org regional news.

One of the lads in work receives the northern freeview signals. However he does live in Longford. If you want a bit of a guide:

No use for dubliners of course.

The DVB.org piece mentions that location for the trial but the text describes it as still in the construction phase and wont be operational till mid August 2006, though if they are already up & running that is a good sign.

The bad news is that the trial is expected to run for two years so it could be some time before the rest of us see DVB-T if that is the case :(

Loads of information on the ICDG terrestrial board.

I've had freeview via an aerial here for over 5 years from the preseli transmitter in wales.
I was even able to subscribe for subscription services which gave me sky one and mtv via an aerial untill the company doing it went bust.

Heres three relevant threads for starters.
