Have a small problem, Don't know how I did it but I seem to have duplicated most of my songs on my computer so now iTunes has doubles of them all. I've tried duplicate file finder programs but the problem is that itunes has renamed the duplicates as the same name but with a 1 at the end i.e bla bla - bla bla.mp3 ---> bla bla - bla bla1.mp3.
anyone have this problem how did you sort it???
also why did iTunes include the feature of showing duplicate songs in the library if you cant select only the dupicates seems pointless????!

yep...my itunes does that too...tbh i find it very un-user friendly..

anyways, i foound out, that when searching for files, itunes will take the playlist file MU3 and the mp3, therefore duplicate files.....so, maybe if you delete the playlist files it will work, worked for me!!

Yeah unfortunately the problem is, is that there are about 4000 songs duplicated so going through all the songs itunes shows as duplicated could take well a long time.

Also the files that are duplicated in itunes are also doubled in the actual music folder so it aint a playlist problem.

I knida sorted it with this tool (duplicate file finder), I searched "My Music" folder for all files matching the same size (it searches to the byte so kinda acurate) and it seems so have solved the problem.

Do you have nothing better to do?
    Keep to the topic.

OP : I had this happen to me so i just deleted all the files from my library and re-imported them back in, it takes a while but its not as tedious as going and deleting each duplicate file.

There are sig rules in place for a reason
