I have a few Dells lying around that need the memory upgraded.
If I just order the memory from say Komplett it should work ok right?
Or do I need to order from Dell.
I am guessing not but just in case.

Ordering from Komplett should be fine as long as its compatible with your old stuff.

You need to find out what kind of RAM it is

    Yeah
    1) once you know the model number (eg. dimension 300)
    2) what configuration the memory already in there is in. ie. Are there free slots? Are you replacing memory or adding on memory?

Always found http://www.shop4memory.com/ cheap and fast.

Make sure to check how much ram your motherboard can handle also.

my sister asked me to get her some more ram, ive never changed ram in a laptop, dont know what type it will take, is there any program i can run on her Dell to see what ram it will take??

Laptop ram is normally not hard to install. Theres a small memory bay on the underside the laptop where the ram is stored (its under a small cover, you may need a screwdriver to remove a few screws). I think Dell has a diagnostic tool on their website, but if you enter in the service tag, it should bring up the details you need. You could post the the model of the Dell and someone could help you out either.

I've got a dell laptop and one of the slots was dead easy to get at while the other was a pain in the hole.

Ruu is dead right - get the service tag (should be on a sticket under it - something like 5 letters then 2 numbers)

    Go to http://support.euro.dell.com/support/topics/topic.aspx/emea/shared/support/upgrades/upgrade_dell?c=ie&l=en&s=gen
(the above seems to be down at the moment actually).
