Sorry for wasting your time on this stupid question but I really need to know it. I used to be able to find song names so it'd be all done automatically. Something happened the Media Player and now all songs(nearly 12G's worth) are labelled under unknown. Can someone please tell me how to find the song names on Merdia Player 10? Im just too lazy to type them all in myself. Especially as Im goin away later today. Thanks in advance

Don't know the exact solution to your problem but an "easy fix" might be to install WMP 11. It has an improved music database & it should scan your music directory pulling down the meta-data for your music hopefully without you having to do little to no manual typing.

    Er,

Right click the songs you want labelled and select 'find album info'.

Although it's probably not wise to do that to all your music together.

And you may have some deeper problem if all the id tags have vanished suddenly.

You didn't install iTunes and get it to consolidate your music library or anything, did you?

Think thats exactly what I did do actually. Id had itunes for months before I did this though. nd that "finding album info" just doesnt work. I have tried it but thats not working. Media Player 11 shall be done. Thanks

Usually the 'find album info' thing works for me.
But you'd have to do it album by album. Anything remotely mainstream should be there.

Haven't used WMP11 but good luck.

WMP11 is great and very easy Im finding. Its doin well for the albums that said <Unknown>, not sure about songs though. The "Find album info" on WMP11 is much better. Ya get a picture of the album, the song list and the chance to say if its your album. Then all details change. Ya get a picture of the album....brilliant

Get WMP11. Its much better for finding album info. Got my 50Gb of music all sorted. You gonna have 2 do it manually, each album at a time. Remember WMP11 is a beta so its a little bit buggy (well i find it buggy with 50Gb). WMP11 is great cos you can see all your album art as youre scrolling down through them.
You can also find the album art on amazon if you cant find it with WMP.

This app will search amazon and other site to find the art for you , just point it at ur music folder. Its quick and very easy to use and it wont add the pic unless you hit set as cover so no chance of getting the wrong cover
