I have the netopia cayman 3300 modem and trying to install a netgear wgr614 alongside it to allow more wireless access
the installation of the router was fine and i can access the routers settings but no matter what i do it won't allow me to connect to the internet, eircom aren't assigning me an IP

    any tips?

Short version: Put the cayman into bridge mode, then connect it to the netgear. Configure netgear with the required eircom PPPoE settings.

Long version available on request. ;)

is eircom giving an IP to the netopia? is there a overview page to check this or don't you get an IP to the netgear? is the netopia set to "DHCP enabled" or something similar to assign IPs automatically to other connected wifi devices?
