    Hi,
    I'm over in Spain at the moment, not sure if this is part of the reason (different plugs etc), I never noticed it back in Ireland, but sometimes, if I touch the USB connections, or any metal part on the laptop, I feel a small shock until I take my finger away. If I plug it out, so it's just on the battery, it doesn't happen:confused:

    Any feedback appreciated:)

    ^^ What he said. I wouldn't go opening up any computers but shocking people is fun. :)

    My father has a Panasonic Toughbook and there is always a nice little zap off it when it is powered off the mains or recharging. It seems especially to run into the tiny hairs on my wrist whenever I am at it. Nasty little bugger it is too.

    There was a show on C4 one evening about two months ago about human
    combustion.

    Anyway, on it they investigated how powerful static electricity is. In one test
    they set a wooly jumper on fire. Another video showed a woman filling up her car
    with fuel and it ignited due to static electricity.

    It all makes me wish something like X-men scenario happened and I could have
    static powers...

    Yes! I saw this thread and thought of that! I capped it on UKNova - Bruce Dickinson - TV Presentor - Quantas 747 Pilot - Singer with Iron Maiden, is there no end to his talents?

    OP - AFAIK, the Spanish and most continential European and U.S. AC plugs lack the third earth line that both we and the UK have. Any build-up of static would normally be discharged back down through that.
