Iriver h10 20GB - updating firmware

Hi,

I'm trying to update the firmware on an iriver h10 20GB.

It's telling me when I turn it on :
System Files Missing

To restore system files,
connect H10 to recovery tool,
(www.iriver.com)

Grand, so I went and downloaded the ecovery tool from the iriver site, and ran the tool as per the instructions.

Everything seemed to be ok, until it came to writing the firmware to the device, it got to 25%, stopped for a while, then very quickly to 50% , 75% then 100%, then I got a pop up bubble from Windows telling me there was a problem writing to the device. All that is on the iriver now is something called a HEX file (BL_H10_20GC.hex - it is 286KB, and looks like it has been there since the device was made.)

So, can anyone help me with this please?

Am I doing something wrong - I don't think it's the USB cable, because I can see that it is connected and I can hear the WinXP ding-dong sound when I connect it.

Is there a flaw with the Firmware?

Am I being an idiot somewhere?

All help appreciated, cheers.
