Was in Galway at the weekend and tried this; it's a new Galway based microbrew. It's labelled as an 'Irish Pale Ale' and is quite tasty. It tastes very much like an Amerian Pale Ale; off hand I can't think of what particular one it reminded me of, maybe Sierra Nevada or Liberty Ale. All in all a tasty drop - has anyone else had this and did you like it?

Incidentally this was my first visit to the Bierhaus in Galway and I thought it was a great spot. Good vibe and a nice selection of beers on tap such as Hoegaarden, Budvar, Okocim etc. I was also really pleased to see O'Hara's stout on tap as I'm a big fan of this but up to now I have only had it in the bottle.

There's a big puff piece about it in current issue of Hot Press. Where's Bierhaus in Galway? Heading down this weekend so might pop in

It's just down the road from the Roisin Dubh and definitely one of Galway's best pubs :D

    It's in Dominick St.

I believe it's also in Tigh Neachtain on Quay St. among others

Sleepy, I take it you're local - I know it's not out long but any idea how this beer is doing so far?

Hey, I was one of the guys who picked the name Hooker. I was in roisin on opening night and talked to the fellas that are starting the company. It is a Sierra Nevada copy but a bit heavier on the hops. Most of the pubs on Dominick st sell it. You can also get Erdinger and Hoegarden on tap in a few pubs down there. Massimos is the best spot IMHO, but that whole are is great as its away from the tourists.

I though it a bit too smoky at first but have now aquired a taste for it, particularly with a Guinness head - like a pint of "special".

    More info.

Hope it does well. It would be great to see a bit of variety on draught in Irish Pubs.

Whereabouts in Massimo's? Is it in Dominick St.?

That Hooker sounds like a pretty good brew... I think a trip to The City of the Tribes is on the cards...

It's not bad at all, really. A very bitter aftertaste, I thought, but apparently they're making future batches more "mellow". Well worth a taste.

Bierhaus is on Henry St,first place of its kind in Galway serves a wide range of appetising brews,a good alternative to the whole Quay St/Cross St Hen party scene
