    Hi guys,

I was talking to some yesterday who said its very difficult to get wireless broadband working in a steel frame house. He say he has to open doors/windows to get a signal.

Does anyone have experience of this?

    - Dave.

Are you referring to a product like Ripwave or Clearwire, NLOS type services? Usually they tell you to place the modem in a window for best service.

Or are you just referring to using a wireless router on you broadband product to make a WLAN in the home? Unless the walls are sheet steel I wouldn't say it would be that difficult.

Yes it can have an effect, his house is essentially acting like a poor faraday cage- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Faraday_cage. The radio stuck beside a window should be ok.
