Just got this mail from Aerlingus. Myself and family are flying to the states, anyone get anything simular? I have been stateside many times, most recently I have been fingerprinted etc and have no prob, but just wondering what this is about.

    "Dear Sir or Madam:

Your booking reference includes travel to and/or from the USA.

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security (Bureau of Customs and Border
Protection) requires certain Advance Information about all passengers -
including infants - travelling to and/or from the USA.
Airlines must have this information before passengers can be checked in
for flights to and/or from the USA.

For your convenience, and to reduce queuing time at check-in, you can
now input this information on-line at www.aerlingus.com. To add the
information to your booking, simply logon to www.aerlingus.com and click
on "Change Booking" from the home page.

The Information required from each passenger - including infants - is:

    - First Name (as on passport)
    - Family Name (as on passport)
    - Gender
    - Date of Birth
    - Citizenship
    - Passport Number and Alien Resident Card Number (Green Card) if
    applicable
    - Passport Country
    - Expiry Date of Passport
    - Address while in USA (including ZIP Code)

    Thank you for your time

    Kind Regards,
    Aer Lingus Customer Contact Centre"

yeah, it's been introduced in the last couple of months alright - standard procedure now. The only real difference is you need to supply the full address of the place you are staying - "New York" isn't enough anymore.

I thought the EU done away with that and deemed it illegal for airlines to pass on data? Link here.

The english used by Aerlingus suggests that it'll save time if you do it do. I may ring them and confront them. Its hot outside and Im stuck inside so need to vent some steam

    Thanks

They've ruled against it, but in reality that ruling has to be implemented and until they figure out what they are going to do (short of stopping all transatlantic travel) API will probably be around for a while yet.

Yes, you will save time. If you don't provide it in advance, you'll have to provide it at check-in. There isn't any point in venting at them - they don't have any choice!

Suggest you repair to the works toilet and do your venting there.

please don't waste other peoples time as well as your own....
