Happy music

Ok, so I'm having a musical crisis. I have a lot of shit stuff going on at the moment, and nearly every cd I put on the stereo makes me sad. Or if it doesn't the first time, it does second time round. Since I was eight, I can't be in my room without putting on my stereo, I always have it on. So I need to find music I can put on the stereo without ending up in tears after lsitening to it. I went into hmv's sale to buy happy music and came out with nothing. Even my anthem, Show Must Go On, which has worked for every crisis of my life, isn't working for me.

What music do other boardsies listen to for happiness or to make themselves feel better?

    Thanks! :D

Gorkys Zygotic Mynci do it for Pighead. Happy songs with happy lyrics that just make me HAPPY. For example PATIO SONG, Altogether now:

Well isn't it a lovely day
Oh, I'm feeling all brand new
Well isn't it a lovely day
Oh, boating on sunday with you

And if you really want to kiss her
Just go right up and tell her
Oh, isn't it a lovely day for love

And then just when Pighead thinks he can't get any happier on comes Diamond Dew!

Awake, awake to love and work, luck is in the sky
Fields are wet, diamond dew, worlds awake to cry
Child comes home, home from school, singing merrily
Room is warm, organ plays, house by the sea

    WARNING WARNING: HAPPINESS OVERLOAD.

    TWEE MY BOLLOCKS!

ive a somewhat cheesy taste in music, but some songs that just make me so frikkin happy are,

chewing on tinfoil - gym (theyre a dublin band, i dont actually know where to get their stuff, my mate put it on a mix cd for me)
feeder - just a day (the music is happy, but the lyrics arent maybe the happiest)
radiohead - video killed the radiostar
thin lizzy - dancing in the moonlight
aerosmith - rag doll / dude looks like a lady / love in an elevator / walk this way
poison - your mama dont dance / what the cat dragged in (cheesiliscious)
red hot chilli peppars - dani california / suck my kiss
queens of the stone age - no one knows (especially if you watch the video)
ricky martin - livin la vida loca ( just do it! ;) )
ozzy osbourne - stayin alive with dweezil zappa (hilarious)
guns n roses - mr brownstone
green day - church on sunday

hehe, i could come up with a lot more if you want

That's my favourite song and has been for as long as I can remember... Although my anthem of the moment would probably be So Far Away by Staind, which is a fantastic song too (and, again, probably not exactly a pick-me-up type song that you might be lookin' for).

    Tom Petty - Free Fallin'
    Green Day - Castaway
    Oasis - Acquiesce
Sawdoctors - To Win Just Once
    Joan Jett - Bad Reputation
    Republica - Ready to Go
The Clash - Rock The Kasbah
    The Cure - Cut Here
    Nada Surf - Hyperspace
    Nada Surf - Blankest Year
New Order - Bizarre Love Triangle
    The Format - First Single
Billy Bragg - North Sea Bubble
Oysterband - The World Turned Upside Down
Garbage - When I Grow Up

    And anything by Madness:D

    That should do the trick...

I'd recommend Joy Division's Atrocity Exhibition with a hefty dose of Nick Cave's The Carny thrown in.
    Only messin'...

Altered Images - fab early 80s post-punk/pop/funk band from Scotland (kinda Blondie-ish). Got their best of in Tower Records yesterday for only 6.99 - good few copies there. Songs like Happy Birthday, I Could Be Happy, Don't Talk to Me About Love and See Those Eyes - all poptastic! Lyrical content may be dark but bugger it. Just concentrate on the choons. And the singer is so happy too!
Key it into YouTube. Guarantee you'll be cheered up. Hope everything gets sorted out for you.
Ooh, another one in a similar vein - Our Lips Are Sealed by The Go-Gos.
And also, Pull Up to the Bumper by Grace Jones is very funkay.

My favourite happy song is Peaches En Regalia, the opening track on Frank Zappa's 1969 masterpiece Hot Rats.

Frank wrote lots of happy music so check out the aforementioned Hot Rats along with The Grand Wazoo, Waka Jawaka, Just Another Band From L.A. and Studio Tan. Cheers me up every time.

have a bit of a crappy time of it myself lately. but the following have cheered me up. Jonathan Richman and Operator Please.

Wasted Days and Peculiar by the slackers have also both really cheered me up over the last week. Their lyrics can be quite sad but their music is really happy.

    [sarcasm]Radiohead![/sarcasm]

But seriously. The feeling are nice and happiful, chessy and all as they are. Jump from Van Halen always gets me up...not in that way, although that solo is very class. I Wanna Rock from Twisted Sister. That kind of thing, hair metal in general is vber uplifting.

+1 on Jonathan Richman - The New Teller never fails for me.
Also, Carrot Rope by Pavement - ideally with the silly video.
