    hello everyone

I'm moving home from the UK to Achill Island and was wondering if my current satallite kit will work in ireland. I have a mini dish (I think its about 43cm) and a Pace 2500 reciever. Can I use this down the west coast or can anyone suggest the best kit to use for that part of the world. Will I be able to get the free channels without any probs?

Thanks to ye all in advance!

That dish will be too small for wet weather on Achill, but swap it out with either the bigger sized Minidish or a proper dish and you'll be fine.

If you want to get the UK free channels, you might want to make sure you have a working FTV card (gets Channel 4, Channel 5 and Sky Three) before you leave the UK.

My mother lives there (Achill). I'm almost certain she's got a 60cm dish.

Thanks for the help up to now and the swift response, I've been wading through sites trying to find the info to no avail so this has been a great help.

So the box is ok but I need a 60cm dish, any other issues that I should be aware of?

    Thanks again

    Barring the card, no.

Oh, and a Sky dish will rust away in no time on Achill, if Arranmore is anything to go by. That and generic 60cms are cheaper, so get a generic aluminium one and it'll last a LOT longer.

if u can get a 65 cm gilbertini then u are fixed. look on ebay and buy laods of stuff BEFORE u come as u will find everything here either impossible to get or mighty expensive. Also get a quad lnb and then with 4 boxes u can have all the uk stuff, ie BBC1/2/ITV1/CH4. Boxes are cheap on ebay.

I would say ACHILL is gorgeous with the current weather we are having.

    welcome to Ireland,

    gb--

Aye, you need the 60cm dish alright. I have one but live right across Clew Bay from you and would agree that it does like a bit of rust.

Enjoy AC Hill as my old work mates used to call it!! ;)
