    Hey guys,

Any kickboxing classes going down in South Dublin area? I know it goes on in Westwood, Leapardstown but don't you have to be a member of Westwood to do it? Would be interested in doing it. Does anyone know of any other locations where it is done out this direction?

You could try this place also. http://www.kenpo.ie/welcome.htm Its based in Cabinteely. Its primarily a Kenpo club but they also do Kickboxing and grappling (in some form or other). I dont know anything more about them unfortunately.
Alternatively, if you're interested in giving MMA a try you could check out the Fianna Gym in Sandyford, 2 min walk from the Kilmacud Luas stop

Or if you dont mind travelling a little, I train in MMA down in East Wall. Our website is www.mmaireland.com

    Good luck in your search.

    OSU,

    Dave.

Thanks a lot for all the links. Very helpful.

MMA looks awesome. How long would it take for someone who is already really fit to get competent at it?

Well, Ive only been with the MMA club for just under a year, but Ive been doing Kenpo for a few years and I can say from looking at people who start in both without any experience in Martial Arts are alot tougher and better able to handle themselves after a few months of MMA. NOw thats not to say that Kenpo is useless, it just takes longer to get good.

    Regards,

    Dave.

I would say it depends on the individual, how its trained, and who's training. I wouldn't say there's a definite yardstick.

I'd just like to echo was roper said. But if you're fit, got good natural attributes and you're training in a good environment, I'll throw out a ball park figure of a few months and you'll notice the different in your ability to handle yourself and one year of good training and you'll be a different man.

Hey All. I know that it's frowned upon for this board to be used as an "advert" for any given club. So, if you mail me: shane@mma-ireland.com I'll send you all the info you need. :D

Just assumed it really. Each club has their own site/info etc. Saw a post from JK once saying "this isn't an SBG forum so mail me for the specifics". I assumed from that, that it's a general rule.

    Still, all sorted now. :D

well people can do what they want but if some asks you on the forum "what's the story with your club" you should feel free to answer them on the forum. it's all good.
