Taxback from Australian working holiday

Got back from Australia 3 weeks ago, and last week I applied for a tax refund through taxback.com. I only worked for 2 months so I only paid $900 tax, but taxback.com told me I was only entitled to a refund of $117 because "we can only refund the excess tax that you paid". And on top of this, they want to charge me $89 for their services leaving me with next to nothing.

I finished working in late June, and Australian tax year ended July 1st.

Anybody have similar experiences, or know of anywhere I can go for better news!? Australian Government/Australian Tax Organisation etc.? Any advice at all would be appreciated, because at the moment I stand to lose Au$900.

I still have my payslips & tax file number.

(mods feel free to move thread if necessary)

You are not losing anything. The rules on tax back from Oz changed a few years ago. You are not entitled to get all your tax back. I don't know all the ins and outs but check out www.ato.gov.au
