Up fixing someones pc yesterday and they had 2 laptops using 2 different internet connections (one was war driving on neighbours open router) to play on the same table.

Both shrugged when i called em cheating fekers and said everyone did it either by phone or MSN?

Is this rife in online poker?

/mentioned to nieghbour to lock his router :p

    common enough yeah.

Its not called war driving btw, its simply connecting to a wireless network.
War driving actually involves driving around.
(useless sidenote: I believe I am the first person ever to go "War Kayaking" or "war paddling")

i couldnt think of a more inappropriate name for driving around with pc's looking for free internet...

i used to do this as a laugh at low level stt's over the phone. i think its too unrealistic to make enough to make it worth your while. just get good at poker and go solo methinks

Loads of people do it tho, was sitting in the SE a few weeks ago with a couple of boardies and one admitted to doing it all the time via MSN with his mates. On Tribeca, if anyone cares. One of the many things (such as bots, government interference, etc...) that will probably strangle the growth of online poker over the next few years.

This really annoys me and my gut says its going on wholesale. I know my brother recently bought a new house (second hand u know what i mean) and there was something like nine different telephone lines going into it. Apparently it was owned by a poker player - he wont tell me who!!!-

I really think we need to start outing these cheats the game is under enough of a treat and cullision is just another problem we need to stamp out.

I've been saying for a while that this is by far the biggest threat facing online poker!

What you are trying to do with the name and shame is good but unfortunately is useless. The cheaters will just go underground. What's needed is the sites to stop all the marketing speak and actually get tough on cheaters.

That means having the sites put their banned software lists, their banned people lists and more information about the security their site offers in open view. That way their customers can decide for themselves whether a site is doing enough (and what they are doing) or not about the issue. Failure to do this and spouting various crap about not being able to release this info as it's an arms race and you're all terrorists is just a way to cover up for the failures they know exist in their software.
