I am trying to connect my media centre laptop directly to my 360 via the patch cable I got with the 360 and using static ip's.

I have been having a bit of difficulty with this and I was wondering if anyone could help me???

I know that generally you would use a crossover cable for this connection but ive been led to believe that it can also be done with the supplied cable??

    Thanks

Nearly sure its only a crossover cable, never heard anything bout the supplied cable working, anyone else with Media Centre?

It would make sense if the 2 of them are to connect together.....

Sorry, I aint to good when it comes to these things but ill salvage a guess....

the suppied cable will work fine indeed as that one was too long for my purpose i'm using a 1meter patch cable.

I'm not doing exactly what ur doing but this might help you.

I was too tight to buy a wireless adaptor so i basically just connected the xbox to my pc with the cable as pc is wireless.

My pc is not media centre but all i basically did was set the network settings on the 360 to defaults to get it to connect to the pc.

On the pc side which my not apply to you, i shared the wireless connection (so i cound access xbox live- which works perfectly) and disabled windows firewall
