    Hey,

I've just finished a website for people who want to vent the frustrations or sing the praises of their job, and am trying to get it going. There's only one review on it so far (mine!!, in the "IT, Programming" Category) so i would appreciate it if you had a look and maybe even did a review yourself.

Its still really only in development so let me know if you notice any problems with it or if you have any suggestions to improve it.

Also, do you think it has any potential or did i just waste the last month of my life?? :D

    The address is http://www.mybosslied.com

    Thanks

I like the idea, it's a site I'd definitely browse once in a while.

I'm not sold on the way reviews are sorted though, maybe have a browsable index of what's actually there... the big list where a lot of categories are empty would leave a lot of people frustrated... at least until they're filled up.
It'd be cool to have in brackets beside each category in the drop down list, numbers of how many reviews are in that category... like "Accountancy (39)" and so on... you could set up some cron job to generate the menu numbers daily or something.

I'd say looking after that site would be a full time job though, making sure you don't get people coming on with libelous comments, spammers etc.
Hope you've made it easy for yourself to kill off whole crap loads of rubbish posts.

Also, I'm getting a php error on your site...
Fatal error: Call to undefined function: truncate_string() in /home/mybosslied/www/mybosslied_website/review_from_homepage.php on line 239

edit: lol, how did I think this was the Webmaster/Flash forum?

    Cheers Donkey,

I see what you mean about the empty categories, ive now put in the number of reviews that have been left in each category (a whopping 2 now, lol). I will also be showing the last 10 reviews left on the home page but it will just take a bit of time to fill up.

Not so sure now if it was all a waste of time after only getting one review in the last day but there's no rush i suppose!!

    Hi Bananna man.

Its a v. good idea for a website, i will keep an eye on it..etc.

Have you thought about, who you can sell advertising to - to cover your costs and time etc.

Make a name for yourself, im sure it wont be a waste of time..ok

    Best of Luck,

Was it you who posted in my thread in the Webmaster forum, saying that you were making a similar site to mine (jobbanter.com)...? I can't remember the username...!!! Hopefully we won't be cutting in on each other's business ;) Not that I'm making any yet :p

It's pretty good man :) And yeh, I think trading links would be a good idea, if you're up for it! Have you started advertising or anything yet? I haven't, so just wanna make sure we're at the same stage (since it's not really fair me leeching off of your advertising campaign :p). I presume you haven't done much beyond the link in your sig (me either).

Ya might wanna fix the link though, when I click it it takes me to a toothpaste site

This is what it links to: http://&lt;b&gt;http//www.mybosslied.com</b>

Ya gotta use the [b] tag ;)

LOL, dont know how that was linking to the toothpaste site, its sorted now, cheers. I havent done any advertising and dont plan too either, im just going to let it take its own course besides doing some link exchanges. From what i see your site is aimed at Ireland, mine is more a global thing so thats why i dont think we will be in competition with each other.
