K, I know absolutely nothing about IR so I'll just tell you what I think of the shot on a non-techy basis - I really like it. I really like the effect the filter has on the sky, the clouds look fantastic and the tones in this shot are really great. I think that the RHS of the foreground is a little too dark for my liking, I keep searching for detail there and find it a little distractiog. I really like the composition and the overall result of the shot, great work. Thanks as well for posting the link in your blog to the instructions, very helpful indeed!!

There's really noticeable vignetting in a lot of my IR photos. There tends to be flare in the middle of the photo (at the top and to the right of the castle) that trails off sharply towards the side. One thing I had to do was make use of gradients to even it out a little.

I can but blame the lens, as I'm not happy that I'm forced back using the kit lens for this. My 28mm lens is sharper and has a bigger aperature for shorter exposures.

It looks good to me but is it not a sloping to the right a little bit. Maybe its just my eyes at nearly 1am. :) Good work.

I love the effect you can sometimes get with IR and this is a really beautiful example.Well done.

Ruu: Its not sloping, actually. The river was at an angle to me to start with and then the trees on the far side aren't flush with the bank, leaving the whole scene look canted.

As for IR as a whole, the trick is to find a photo that will have colour after you finish processing it. Its way too easy to leave a just a black and white photo.
