I would say the best pub would have to be Beach House. We are very limited in Stones. I stopped socialising in Greystones a long time ago which is a shame really as it got to the stage where the pubs started filling up with kids that I used to babysit so I ran a mile :)

I think when u grow up in Greystones, the idea of living and clubbing there doesnt appeal to ya anymore. No offence to newcomers but the town is full of blowins now which is such a turnoff as little Greystones is no longer little anymore. I work in town & the amount of people that say in their Dublin 4 accents" im living out in greystones" is the pits. I was born & reared there & it really pisses me off when people go on all snobbery about the place.

Had to get that information off my mind :) lol

Greystones is the New Dublin 4 ! (Eh when I heard that I thought jasus!)

    Wake up people.

Funny; the only snobbery in Greystones I have experienced is from people who refer to newcomers as "blow-ins" (apparently the Mayor also made a similar comment) and think only they have the right to live in the area.

On topic: I think the Burnaby's a great spot - we watched the Ireland v England 6N match, and the atmosphere was fantastic. The service is generally excellent too.

An extremely arrogant, brazen, and utterly pointless post for a forum virgin..
Back on topic and away from idiotic, myopic, WASPish "local" opinion - Have taken to going for an after work beer in Charlesland Golf club in the fine weather. Great view from the tables outside and you can pick up some tips about what not to do on an approach shot to the green:)
For winter pints, Horse and hound.

Nice to know we've integrated successfully into Greystones society and we've gained the acceptance of the WASPs. Although clearly if she feels that way about the "Dublin 4 accent" she's not from the Burnaby!

Perhaps if Greystones is the new D4, you're from the Irishtown of it? ;)

Luckily we're not fardners or dem imigrints here for your jobs. We're just here to help keep the price of your house artificially inflated.

On topic... I like Dann's. Not so much into the Beach House, I'm not overly fond of the soles of my shoes sticking to carpet.

Oh Dear God...what planet are you from?? are you 12???
Did you just learn the art of reading and writing and get all excited so you decided to spout out that utter rubbish!!!

The word BLOWINS actually doesnt apply to anywhere anymore considering the whole flippin country has moved more than once in their lives to a different town or county to have a better life or to be nearer work and thank god your kind of attitude doesnt prevail. Maybe u still live at home with your mummy and daddy and are lucky u dont have to scrimp and save for a deposit and pay and ridiculous mortgage...or even better mummy and daddy bought you a house or gave you the deposit!!!!

If people are proud that they have moved here and want to boast about it let them!!! Maybe they worked bloody hard to buy a house here and like people to know about it, I could think of a lot worse things people could do, so grow up and start educating yourself in the fundinmental things in life ...like being nice to your neighbour blowin or not. If you have nothing nice to say, dont say anything at all. Now, thats my rant over, goodday to you :D;)

    My tuppence worth.
I "blew in" to Greystones about 7 years ago. Bf was living here for years & I moved in with him. We went on & built in an area that would be considered one of the best places in Greystones. It's irrelevant to us, it's just our home that we love. It's what you make of it yourself, not what someone labels it.
Charlesland has been called the new Dublin 4, the new Lucan, Greycoole, little Malaga, etc. It's none of those, it's just another part of Greystones.
People from Greystones didn't like seeing their little village turned into, well, something bigger & different. People from Charlesland don't like the fact that the original Greystones people don't want them here.
What's wrong with saying "I live in Greystones" in a dublin 4 accent? If you've a D4 accent & you live here, what are you meant to do? Put on a different accent & lie??? (I'm not from Dublin btw)
We're all living here together, live & let live.

Oh, and Dan's is the best pub!

    Firstly, it's W4 darling!!!
Secondly, Burnaby of mixed couple type affairs, Beach house centre bar for testosterone soaked sports watching, Scripts... a waste.
Thirdly, the W4 snobs. Greystones was an old upper middle class Protestant village many years ago (Burnaby area being the centre of it). However, in the last 35 years new estates like Redford, Ratdown, Applewood, Hillside, Hillview etc were added, and filled with rednecks from wexford, south wicklow, carlow and waterford, who bought the houses in Greystones so as to be easier to get down the country at the weekend. These Culchie refugees then breed a distinctly repulsive crew of wannabe southside dubliners, who walk , talk and expect D4, but are in their veins wexford & "wickla" at best.
You'll find that the real trad locals will welcome you with a subtle warmth. The Lord Mayor is a first Genertion Redneck relocator himself.

Welcome to Greystones, my only itch about Charlesland is the developer was not forced to build the swimming pool as part of the planning specification, but then that's irish planning.

I've heard a very different description:

Charlesland - the Ballymun of South Dublin

Eden Gate - the little Coolock.

    Both descriptions - ridiculous.

Never ever heard Charlesland talked up! Wish it was because it's great.

Best bar is the Grove Bar on the other side of the N11. If you're luck you even see the Dude who lives in teh trees on your way up there.

When I say best bar I am talking about the pints from the bar.... pure quality
