    loaded on clean NTFS drive

    Booted to drive

FBA starts, then almost immediatly blue screens with the following error

    STOP 0xC000021A {Fatal System Error}
The Session Manager System initialization system process terminated
    unexpectedly with a status of 0xC000026C (0x00000000 0x000000000)
    the system has shutdown.

Got a new case for the pc so swapped mother board and the lot over and started up no problem with original drive. Also got 320 gig HD so when I tried to build it, I keep getting the message above I tried with other 20gig drive and getting the exact same error.

Also two different disk (not to copies of the same one) and still the same.

So I m think mother board bt I didnt chnge anything on it only connected two front usb and audio ports.

    Going mad here.

Tried resetting BIOS to default but the same.
Cant understand how the same message keeps coming up.

Has anybody any uggestions or any ideas what might have caued this.

    Thanks

Googled it and nothing on status of xxxxx26c

Have you tried a Windows XP Repair using the CD?

1.When the Press any key to boot from CD message is displayed on your screen, press a key to start your computer from the Windows XP CD.

2.Press ENTER when you see the message To setup Windows XP now, and then press ENTER displayed on the Welcome to Setup screen.

3.Do not choose the option to press R to use the Recovery Console.

4.In the Windows XP Licensing Agreement, press F8 to agree to the license agreement.

5.Make sure that your current installation of Windows XP is selected in the box, and then press R to repair Windows XP.

6.Follow the instructions on the screen to complete Setup.

Are you suppose to do something particular to new HD's before installing on them?

Are you using the Windows CD that came with your computer? It looks like ntldll.dll might be corrupt.

Yeah, it is. Not looking good tho. Say it must be the disk. because I ve tried three different hard drives and still the same problem. As long as it s not the motherboard thats fine. My mate in Dub has a disk so i l get that during the week and at least see if it will get past the install.

Thank s for your help lads, i m sure i cant get it sorted I ll be back :)

    Hey,
Well got a disc that clean as a whistle in fact built another machine with it hours before with no problems.
    But now getting conststanly
    C0000221 Hard error
    systemroot\system32\ntdll.dll.

Any thoughts, really pissed off now as it's a new mother , brand new HD and clean disk.

Could it be something in the BIOS? (grasping at straws)

Seems like it could be a device driver...

Check the CDRom cable is not faulty or poorly fitted. If possible swap it or the drive. This is a common cause of the problem.

Have you tried changing the sata/ide cable on the hard drives?
Have you tried a different cdrom/dvdrom to put windows on?
Have you turned off all unnecessary hardware in the bios temporary?ie usb keyboards, usb mice, unused ide and sata points, etc?
taken out all extra cards like sound cards,tv cards etc in case one has a problem and use only one optical drive on the ide ribbon.

I presume its xp your using?Whats the motherboard model?

Run Memtest+ on the systems RAM sometimes miscellaneous errors like that can be down to dodgy RAM.

connected two new front usb and audio ports to the MB could that cause this

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,723 ✭✭✭kmb

to connect audio ports to the front often u have to change jumpers on the motherboard.

I removed the jumpers to fit the audio connections, my god if thats it I'll be a happy chappy, will try when I get home this evening,
but if it is how are you to connect the audio connections leaving the jumpers in place?

 Thats just the socket protector cover. You have to move a jumper pin to enable the socket. look up mobo manual it'll explain it there. Usually a small 3pin socket with a connector joining 2 pins. You move the connector. May have to enable something in the bios also.

Anyway, that does not seem to be the problem here.
There s nothing connected no only the motherboard HD and Cd rom.
    And still ntdll.dll.
Used different cd's, cd roms' and Hard drives.
Leaving only the MB but I cant understand how anything on
    there could cause this.
If it was a MB problem, the the pc just not start or even dispaly bios?

Hi,So you stripped everything, formatted and still the error?Did you turn off the sound card if onboard and all unneccessy items? Is windows loading all the way but failing on reboot?
    Whats the motherboard your using?

    Where are you based?
