I have a Sky digibox and dish for around 5 years now and lately I have noticed I am getting picture and sound breakup on alot of channels, like you might experience when there is heavy rain etc. except the weather is perfect at the moment.

Its not on all channels but on alot of ones that are usually fine,BBC,TV3 More4 to name but a few.

The dish doent have anything overhanging it or blocking it.I`m wondering if I have a fault somwhere along the line or are other people experiencing the same problems?

I know its all a big vague but any help/advice would be greatly appreciated.

Cable rotting with damp in it, dish rusting (wire brush and repaint!) or mis-alingment or pace 2500 model box tuner slowly dying...

Ah thanks watty, the dish at this stage is very rusty so is most likely the culprit.I`ll also check the cable.I dont own a pace box so thats not it.

I presume there is specialist paint for dishes?

    Thanks again.

If there is the maker of dishes for Sky doesn't use it!
Both Hammerite and non-metallice car spray paint seems to work OK
Varnish or Polyurethane or epoxy or enamel paint is likely to be OK too.

I've read before that any glossy paint is not recommended. Paint must be a matt finish, so matt car paint that's not metallic. And definitely NOT external wall emulsion! :D

I've read elsewhere that Hammerite is metallic and not really suitable but I'm not sure on this?

No Hammerite is just some kind of enamel paint with a very volatile solvent. Throw away brushes afterwards!

Certinally VERY shiny bright paint would focus the sun on the LNB for a few minutes for a few days twice a year.
