im never staying in dublin for college summer holidays AGAIN! so tell me which is better J1 or Canada. Ocean City or San Diego? Vancouver or Toronto? Worth going? Is it good going if you're thinking of an erasmus?

Yeah I know the feeling. Definitely going away next summer. Does anyone know is it hard to get internships abroad, ie. USA, Canada or Europe? Anyone ever done this before? Cheers :)

Is Toronno (Toronto) better than Vancouver?

Internships easy enough to get.. and there are always jobs in places like Quiznos..
A lot of my mates are on J1s as well as we all have work

A lot of internships in the States are unpaid. I've only seen a handful of internships unpaid, then again, I haven't seen that many 'internships' advertised here.

You have to be 21 to drink in the states and they're really strict on I.D's.

Im on a paid internship.. as is everyone else i know out here.

THey are very strict in boston about ID, only accepting my passport which I don't like taking out... better to just go drinking in somebodys house.

Your best bet is probably faking a drivers license since they wouldn't know what it looks like over there, and they do accept it. Get it scanned at high quality then photoshop it. I don't know if it would be worth all the hassle though. Even in Canada you need 2 I.D's sometimes.

House partys is the easiest way around it I think.

90% of IDS are blacklighted, and the local ones are micro printed which you can't fake..

I am over 21, and my license is real but is not accepted. Only US ID Cards are accepted or passports.

Also one of my roommates is a bouncer who says that if you're obviously irish and have a US ID they get suspicious

i decided that montauk is the place to go cos:

ocean city: if you look at maps of it you wonder how it hasn't been flooded yet.
cape cod: (ive been) stoney beaches, shoddy wooden holiday homes and stuck up rich ppl.
san diego: i don't like siestas one bit.
montauk/hamptons: p.diddy/NICE beach/lots more jobs/close to new york one of the two best cities in the usa (it doesnt look like a shanty town cos the bulildings are made of brick not wood).

whats with americans and wooden houses?!
