    Ya E6800 is the only 1 in Conroe series with multiplier unlocked.....hence the price.

    I would say that's going to come down closer to $1000. They're chancing their arm with that price because they are the first to offer it.
    I'm not sure if Core2Duo and Core2Extreme were supposed to share the same launch date(24/07/2006) or weather everyone assumed that the Core2Duo launch date included all Conroe based desktop CPUs. Either way Core2Extreme is available...

    I have my eye on an E6600 when they become widely available. Its going to be my most expensive upgrade in years though :/

    Will need a new motherboard and something to replace the 2GB of PC3200 ram i have in my current A64 3200 machine. That RAM has lasted me three PC builds, so I suppose I got my money's worth there!

    It kicks ass apparently, some benchmarks are double what the best AMD Dual Core can do.
