Just looking at flights to london and i noticed that that ryanair charge 3 times the taxes on the shannon gatwick route than easyjet do on the same route. Anyone know why this is so?

    Taxes with easyjet €17.49
    Taxes with ryanair €46.03

Is this how ryanair make there money?

I get €10.50 taxes shannon to london gatwick with easyjet and €15.22 shannon to gatwick with ryanair.

Though not the same, not that far apart. Are you sure your selecting gatwick for both?

its not Taxes , its Taxes and Charges.....

The charges can include anything they feel like , so just add up the total cost of the flights and then compare , never look at the base price (not worth the paper its written on)

Also there is a charge for "Ins & Wchr" of €5.24, I am guessing this is for Insurance and wheelchair? Why in the hell am i being charged for this? i dont want either of them

PSC = Passenger Service Charge, its supposed to be the charge levied by the airport operator on the airline for services/landing fees etc. It has been alleged that Ryanair charge more to the passenger than is levied by the airports.
Aviation Insurance Levy - This aviation insurance surcharge was introduced after the 9/11 terrorist attacks. Governments no longer covered airlines for acts of terrorism and consequently airline insurance costs rose dramatically. The charge is £3.15/€4.74 per passenger/per flight and similar measures have also been taken by airlines worldwide.

Wheelchair Levy - This charge apportions the cost of airport assistance for reduced mobility passengers across all travelling passengers. This charge is 33p/50cent per passenger/per flight.

    Ryanair FAQ

    Neither are optional.
